is there a specific statute of limitations on debt collecting? And if this time limit is up and a collection agency is calling and/or sending letters , how do you go about stopping this and getting it removed from your credit report? I live in Oregon.
So my dad has tons of credit card debt. And theres no way hes going to be able to pay it all. Since he has cancer and will probably be dead in less then a year.

We receive calls from a debt collection agency attempting to collect money for a company that went out of business and filed bankruptcy a while ago. Is that legal/justifiable?
But if that company filled bankruptcy, doesn’t that mean that they are no longer required to pay back their lenders or any accts payable?;
How is it that they would still be allowed to recoup their losses but not pay their lenders if they’ve declared bankruptcy.
